By using the EzyRent Platform, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data in accordance with this Policy. This Policy applies to all Users of the Platform, including Tenants, Landlords, and Field Partners.
This Policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions. Definitions used in this Policy have the same meaning as those in our Terms and Conditions unless otherwise stated.

- Bank account details for withdrawal purposes (for Landlords and Field Partners).
- Property information, including address, photographs, and ownership or tenancy documents (for Landlords and Field Partners).

When you use the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical data, including:
- Device information, including device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers.
- IP address and general location data.
- App usage data, including features accessed, time spent on the Platform, and interaction logs.
- Transaction data, including payment amounts, timestamps, and transaction identifiers.

- Monnify, our payment processor, for the purpose of processing and verifying transactions.
- Identity verification partners for the purpose of validating government-issued documents.

- To create and manage your account on the Platform.
- To verify your identity and the identity of Landlords and Field Partners before allowing access to core Platform features.
- To process rental payments through the escrow system and disburse funds to the appropriate parties.
- To facilitate communication between Tenants, Landlords, and Field Partners through the Platform.
- To investigate and resolve disputes between Users.
- To detect and prevent fraud, money laundering, and other illegal activities.
- To comply with our obligations under Nigerian law, including anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations.
- To improve the Platform through analytics and user feedback.
- To send you service-related notifications, including transaction confirmations, inspection reminders, and account alerts.
- To send you marketing communications where you have given us permission to do so, and to withdraw that permission at any time.
4.Legal Basis for Processing
EzyRent processes your personal data on the following legal bases under applicable Nigerian data protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA):
- Contractual necessity: processing is necessary to perform the contract between you and EzyRent as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
- Legal obligation: processing is necessary to comply with our legal obligations under Nigerian law, including AML, KYC, and tax obligations.
- Legitimate interests: processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable, and trusted Platform, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: where we process data for marketing purposes or any other purpose that requires your explicit consent.
5.How We Share Your Data

- Identity verification partners for document validation.
- Analytics providers for Platform improvement, subject to data minimisation and anonymisation where possible.
All service providers are contractually required to process your data only in accordance with our instructions and to maintain appropriate security standards.
5.3Legal and Regulatory Disclosure
We may disclose your personal data to regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, or courts where we are required to do so by law, court order, or regulation. We may also disclose data where necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action against suspected fraud or illegal activity on the Platform.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of EzyRent's business, personal data held by EzyRent may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify Users of any such transfer and their rights in relation to it.
6.Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy or as required by applicable law. Specifically:
- Account data is retained for the duration of your account and for a period of 5 years after account closure, in accordance with Nigerian financial record-keeping requirements.
- Transaction data is retained for 7 years after the date of the transaction, in accordance with applicable tax and AML regulations.
- Identity documents are retained for the period required by KYC regulations applicable to our business.
- Marketing data is retained until you withdraw your consent or request deletion.
After the applicable retention period, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
7.Data Security
EzyRent implements appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These measures include:
- Encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest.
- Access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only.
- Regular security assessments of our systems and infrastructure.

The EzyRent mobile application uses certain local storage and session data to enable the Platform to function correctly and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Where we use analytics tools, we anonymise data where possible and ensure that analytics providers are contractually restricted from using your data for their own purposes.
10.Children's Privacy
The Platform is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that data promptly.

11.International Transfers
Your personal data is primarily stored and processed within Nigeria. EzyRent may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
